The Artic Light Tour in case you didn’t know is this: A bunch of YouTube, Musically, Snapchat whatever kids that have your kids so into them that they beg you to meet them …..tickets aren’t too bad parents are free so sure you go. They serve alcohol for the parents and $5 half ice filled diet cokes for those who chose not to drink when you’re driving your kid…..needless to say the lady behind us in line with her daughter downed at least 9 Buds before the concert or whatever they call it even started. Yeah I’m judging deal with it.
We do these things for our kids to make them happy, she was SO happy to meet one guy just one and they ran out of his sweatshirt and t shirt so she got the same white sweatshirt everyone else there ended up with (lucky kid that day his sweatshirts were everywhere). Thinking back I should have let her take a friend, next time for sure I’ll hold the coats and totally smuggle in a 20oz diet coke of my own….$5 ….seriously. BTW the beer was $3 way to go Bluestone. Clearly you banked on the parents who did not want to be there. Being her first one though, I’m glad it was just us.
Look at this face….my beautiful, brilliant, 12 year old spawn was SMILING with ME her Mom this was no small feat people!! I asked before we got out of the car can we take a selfie….she said yeah with people I want to. OUCH thanks….she took one anyway. I mean come on I don’t use crest white strips not to take a selfie every so often for real.
We waited in the freezing cold line for an hour…..I could not feel my toes we had VIP tickets not the Gold mind you but the ones where she could get in early (that barely happened) and the meet and greet. She didn’t know a few of the people she wanted to see 3 people I think 2 for sure (especially since you got the damn sweatshirt with the wrong guys name)…..
We got in and stood in line there for an hour it was like Disneyland for her the BMV for me but look ….smiling….and that’s not the guy she wanted to meet ….so you can imagine how nervous she was….
Here he is and my phone was blurry I felt terrible it just went so fast! She didn’t even care she was still happy.
Her day was complete but you gotta hit the one who’s sweatshirt I just paid $50 for because you should probably know who’s name you’re wearing what if he’s a jerk?
Luckily he wasn’t, they talked the others didn’t LOL !
After the line she grabbed my phone and sent all the pics to herself as any kid would do…
She didn’t even care to stay for the whatever it was a chat amongst friends I don’t even know….but I told her we should at least watch some of it right?
It was basically a musically snapchat whatever the heck fest; they took pics with the crowd did a mannequin challenge ….. basically what every teenager does with their friends, no one sang or danced or had a comedy act……BUT she ……took another selfie with me and SMILED….!
Then trying to be the cool mom her fave guy walked by and I got a pic….of the back of his head…..yep cool mom RIGHT HERE I got the look ….but I tried LOL
So she did get in on the challenge and ran down to record a little on her phone she seemed genuinely happy.
I know it seems like this post is making fun, but the fact is we’ve been through a lot the last 2.5 years, the divorce was super hard on this one. She’s like her mom, keeps it all in until she explodes…usually on me and that’s ok I just want her to be a kid, kids shouldn’t stress about things, they just shouldn’t. So if taking her to this made her happy maybe she can realize she can be happy all the time if she just let go a little. (and I’m really not a bad guy)
Now…..back to our usual programming ….(BIG eye roll or iPhone roll ha! I think that’s a mom joke)
