Social Moms

Have you ever gotten BlogBlock? I get it ALL the time I was leaning on my friends photo challenges over at iHeartFaces.com for all my blog content and as much as I love it I needed to get back to my writing.  But how?? I have Blog Fog, Blog Brain Freeze, Blog Block whatever you call it I have it….until now.  Since I tweet more than I do any Facebooking or Blogging I follow lots of Mommy Bloggers in my search for interesting blogs and Mommy’s I saw @socialmoms which is more about social media etc.  I have just joined the society I am currently waiting on approval so I can put my two cents worth too!

BUT even if you don’t  join you can read on their blog;  they a have a daily blog prompt…can you imagine??   No more blank Blog!  You can chose from older prompts or check back every day.  Here it is …. http://www.socialmoms.com/forum/topic/listForTag?tag=writing+prompt  I have ready other blog idea sites and well they were lame just saying.  Social Moms also lets you share you link there too so you can get more traffic if you are looking for that sort of thing.  I plan on using this tool for awhile well until they get Blog Block!~

So onto yesterdays prompt…..

So I haven’t blogged in while and was thinking I may not be doing the I Heart Faces thing anymore…I am super competitive and never win …. sour grapes you say? Well YES. But I still support the site and visit every week I will make comments for those beautiful shots too!

SO what to blog about?? EVERYTHING! I am going to lay out the good parts though, I’m not much of a downer blogger I may have a sentimental piece but don’t look here for the negativity! My kids read this LOL

I will try to do something every week and will push some friends to do the same on their blogs…see my blog roll these peeps are awesome~ If you have a blog let me know I love to read them and I will roll ya (-: !

Thank you for reading and as always comment away you know I love that!

IHeartFaces Anything But A Face Photo Challenge

This weeks photo challenge on iheartfaces.com is Anything But A Face.  I was feeling like I needed a reminder of Spring, this winter seems like it has lasted too long.  I looked back at some photos and found this one of Phoebe and the memory came flooding back.

We had gotten a call earlier that day that Chad’s Grandfather had made a turn for the worse and we needed to come to the nursing home where he was living.  We rushed home from work packed up the girls and drove the two hours to get there.  It was a really long day for the girls, but they were so good.  Family was in and out and I swear Phoebe never made a peep or even acted like she minded being in a stroller most the time.

My sister-in-law and I would periodically take the girls out and walk  around the grounds.  I got this picture of Phoebe watching the ducks in their pond, pretty sure it was the first time she ever saw ducks in real life.  She was so tickled and it was a little ray of light on that day.   Chad’s Grandfather passed away that week and we came back the next weekend for the funeral.  Only one day later my Grandmother who raised me and my siblings died .  The contrast of grief from one family to another was amazingly different.  But the one thing that remained the same during the most difficult time of our lives was how well-behaved our daughters were while we dealt with the loss of our loved ones.

Funny how a simple picture can say all that, but to me it does.

Check out all the other fascinating stories and No-Face pics over at iheartfaces.com and thanks for reading mine (-:

Photo Books

When you walk into my office downtown it has a wall of art…..preschool and kindergarten art.  I often get asked the question what do you do with all that art work this can’t be it!    It’s not trust me I have tons and that’s just one daughter’s work.  So a few years ago I started taking pictures of the art work before we tossed it away. (Dad of Two Peas swears this was his idea….so we will give him the credit)

Not only did it make me feel better but it made Pyper feels better too; we weren’t just tossing aside her hard work, we were keeping it forever on the computer!  I do have to admit if anything was painted with her little hand prints then I did keep those.  I mean come on!  I have to keep some right?

I then realized after taking all these pictures what a great idea to make them into a book, you can do it anywhere anymore I did ours through winkflash.com I love that site.  After we made the art books we gave them to the grandparents for Christmas a couple of years ago.  My Gram LOVED it, her hairdresser told us at the funeral that Gram was so proud of all us she took down pictures to show off every week.  One week she took the art book and just gloated!

Here is part of the one we made …enjoy the art (-:

I started off with a super cute picture of my princess…..

Pyper picked out all the pictures for her grandparent’s book herself.

We ended the book with an I love you to her grands (-:

She was so excited to see it come in the mail and even more excited to give it to them!

So next time you are cleaning and are up to your ears in your child’s art….photograph it and keep it forever!~

iHeartfaces Challange…..cell phone pics

****spelled Challenge wrong in the title how embarrassing!  Unfortunately I can’t change it or I won’t be link in to the contest please forgive the error (-: ****

And BOY do I have a lot of those!

So many in fact I think I will be show some in another post (-:  it’s funny how most the photo’s on my phone have the best memories of the girls.

On this particular day I was so sick, I didn’t want to get out of my robe.  My girls tried so hard to make me feel better.  At one point they decided that they too needed to get into their robes and just sit on the couch like I was.  I had my cell phone sitting there and snapped this photo.  I posted the original on my facebook account and for this contest I messed around with my phone setting and found the retro app.  How fun is it to look at them as if it were my sister Shelia and I in the 70′s!  I absolutely love this picture I hope you do too!

Don’t forget to go look at all the other ingenious cell phone pics at iheartfaces.com~!

iHeartFaces……All Heart!

This weeks photo challenge was to incorporate hearts.  I remembered when the oldest pea was just  7 months old (2004) we did a photo shoot with her 2-year-old cousin.  (and to think the littlest pea is 2 now and the oldeswt is almost 7 now!) I remember how fun it was; her cousin just loved on her and the smiles were endless that day.  I made Valentine’s cards for all the Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts with this picture here.  Her hair was so red even at that age and those blue eyes just beautiful!

Be sure to check out the other pics over at iHeartFaces.com

Saturday morning when the girls woke up even more sniffly and coughing a little harder than this past week I had to break their little hearts and tell them we couldn’t go see PapPap like this.  I promised next weekend we would stay the whole weekend and not just a day, that made them feel a little better only it was still going to be a pretty boring day stuck in the house and with bed head at that!

    That’s when Dad of 2 Peas came to the rescue with Play Dough!    Pyper loves play dough but Phoebe hadn’t played with it so she got some lessons from her Daddy on how to make a snake.  (because even a two-year old can make a snake and be proud).  And boy was she proud as you can see it wasn’t too long after that she made pancakes and blobs  (-;

Be sure to head over to www.iHeartFace.com to check out all the other entries I know they will be amazing!

    Sick kids?? craft it up!

One of my FAVORITE vendors is the Oriental Trading Company, if you follow my blog you will see the trend.  I purchase ALOT from this website www.orientaltradingcompany.com .  They are inexpensive and carry something for every party we throw, every page I scrap and tons of crafts for the kids.  I stocked up for the winter with enough so the neighbor kids could do some things too!   Today we busted out the crafts since we are stuck inside with a couple of coughing and running nosed peas.  We decided with the snow we would make snow measuring sticks even Dad of 2 Peas kicked in to help!

We used the plastic yard signs from election time to catch the glue….see we are green!   Reduce - Reuse - Recycle!

Even Phoebe enjoyed this one!  I loved watching her little fingers at work.

Chad and I made one too!

He put the parts in order and I glued them down while he helped the littlest pea glue her pieces down, the oldest pea needed no help thank you very much LOL!

     her finished product…..

Phoebe’s finished product!  Still drying (-”

So much fun for a couple of sickies!  Dad of 2 Peas just went to bed and guess what? He started coughing…..but he said he loved today even  if we were stuck in the house.  He started the morning with play dough, had tickle fest 2011 and then these little snowman measuring sticks.

    It was a good day!
